Tanya Hoshi is a Canadian filmmaker who has built a portfolio of award-winning films, webseries, and advertisements. For the past 10 years, Tanya has focused her career path towards strategic storytelling, landing her coveted roles as the first Head of Brand Marketing at Ownr - an RBCx Venture, and Lead Producer at Shopify. Tanya's productions have been viewed by millions of entrepreneurs around the world. Her series In 90 Seconds, won a Telly Award in 2020.
With a wide variety of experience as a film, digital, and social media producer, Tanya is also an independent producer and director. Her past accomplishments include directing the web series BLACKOUT, which went on to win Best Horror Series at Webfest Berlin and producing the award-winning film, TURNING TABLES, which was acquired by CNN’s Great Big Story, TIFF, West Jet, and Alaska Airlines. Tanya’s projects have been supported with generous financing from Telefilm, Ontario Creates, the Independent Production Fund, Ontario Arts Council, Inspirit Foundation, Story Money Impact, and BravoFACT.
Tanya produced her first feature-length documentary in 2023 called WE WILL BE BRAVE, an official selection of Telefilm's Talent to Watch Program and the Winner of the Reel Asian Audience Choice Feature Film Award. It was acquired by CBC and released on CBC Gem in 2025.
Tanya is actively involved in her cultural community, being elected as the Communications Committee Chair for FEZANA - the largest body of Zoroastrians in North America. As a Parsi filmmaker, she enjoys telling stories about her community and volunteers her spare time to produce and edit films about them. You can see her Zoroastrian content here.
When she isn't working, Tanya is mentoring aspiring filmmakers and travelling.
